Dear Sweet Trilogy,
I feel like a high schooler again, spending a weekend with you and enjoying every minute. It may have been a while since high school, but all the feels came back immediately!
With Love,
Hannah

Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She’s aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but it isn’t until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. Guilty pleasures… oh how delicious they are! The issue is admitting to the guilty pleasure. Never before have I squealed quite as much as I did during the reading of this book. Even thinking about it gets me all giddy. Yet, I rarely tell people I have read this book.
As a teenager, I loved to read books with “bad boys”. I was definitely the “good girl” who never went to the parties, dated, or rebelled against my parents. Not only was I a “good girl”, I was also quite introverted. Which created an environment where I wanted to experience life, and so I thought I would do it through reading. With that being said, this book is so far from the reality of human nature, I now see as an adult. Yet, it is safely tucked in my heart as a cute book for my teenage “what if”.
This series is a cute mish mash of teenagers with magical powers trying to save the world from demons, called Dukes. The deadly sins (pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth) are manifested as dukes in human flesh here on earth, sent to make humans sin. Their children were born to do their parent’s work, without questions and without rebelling.
Until…
A girl, Anna, doesn’t know her heritage and meets the son of the Duke of Lust, Kaiden (Kai). Thus ensues the story of the search for redemption and overcoming nature. The series arch is three stories, with an additional book with the whole story retold from Kai’s perspective.
This series most definitely falls on the young side of the young adult genre, from the situations they go through and the mindset of the characters. The story line is cute, but a reader can guess what is going to happen from the opening pages of the first book. Yet, the idea of being something more is enticing, and this book feeds on the desire to be a part of something bigger. If only go the cute PG romance and magic, I really enjoy the book series.
If you don’t enjoy cheesy storylines and characters, this book will not be entertaining to you (most likely). Is it time to turn off, zone out, have a reprieve from everything? The Sweet Trilogy is a cute escape from reality. It is quite innocent and an uplifting read.
