Synopsis: The unnamed narrator is alone in his house on a cold December evening, trying to read. As he is about to fall asleep, he hears a quiet knock at his door, but decides to ignore it. He says that he has been reading in the hopes of relieving his sorrow over Lenore, his beloved, who has passed away. Though he tries to convince himself that nothing is there, his curiosity and fear overwhelm him.

………………………………………………………….

The lyrical nature of The Raven makes it a delightful book to listen to. I find writing a review for such a short piece of poetry difficult. So, rather than write a whole review, I am simply going to write my favorite line:

“Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.” (Edgar Allan Poe).

It will take you less time to listen to this book than to make dinner. It is unlikely to change a listener’s life, but if you enjoy gothic literature or poetry, you will enjoy this (although it is probable you have already read it).
